SCRUBS - ASDP‎ > ‎

Development

SCRUBS - ASDP is generously funded by the Department of Surgery.

As research funding tightens, there are fewer resources for student research. Please consider sponsoring a student in the ASDP Program. Gifts can be made in your name or in honor of your own surgery mentor. We welcome contributions at all levels and 100 percent of the funds will be allocated toward research.

Your gift can be made online at surgery.med.umich.edu/giving (search for fund number 318942) or by check made payable to the University of Michigan and mailed to:

UMHS Development & Alumni Relations
1000 Oakbrook Drive, Suite 100
Ann Arbor, MI  48104-6815

*Please note on the check that the gift is for the ASDP Program, Department of Surgery.

Future Plans: We aspire to develop our broadening educational and clinical research opportunities for students interested in careers in medicine.

These include additional faculty mentored projects which will increase our ability to meet student demand. We also plan additional clinical shadowing opportunities, expanded career development support, and a formal 4th year medical student surgery research course.

In collaboration with other surgeons and professional societies, we are leading the development of a national medical student program named the Academic Surgeon Development Program (ASDP).
